Vehicles in Germany's City Found Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities reported they were alerted by a man who noticed a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Police report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.

The substance had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.

Police then found numerous other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement state initial examinations indicate the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they added.

Local authorities said they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the residents for details.

An important representative commented the incident made him stunned and had to be addressed rapidly.

"This act hits the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on online, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at people of immigrant origin in 2020.
