From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, demons, and malevolent powers growing in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and presented the first table of characters who will split off from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.
This warrior group includes Teor (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing started the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then settled his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could assist the party reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in search of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Explorers and Planners tables.
Viewers can anticipate learning which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
